Common Questions About Family Photo Sessions

If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re feeling a little unsure—and that’s completely normal.
These are the most common questions I hear from families, especially those with neurodivergent children or past stressful photo experiences.

Before Your Session

What if my child doesn’t cooperate during photos?

This is one of the most common concerns I hear—and it’s okay. Your child does not need to perform or behave a certain way for your session to be successful. I build sessions around flexibility, movement, and patience so your child can feel safe instead of pressured.

What if my child is shy, anxious, or doesn’t like strangers?

I approach every session slowly and gently. There is no pressure to engage right away. Your child is allowed to warm up at their own pace, and I follow their lead instead of forcing interaction.

Do kids need to smile or pose for photos?

No. I guide you naturally, but I don’t force poses or fake smiles. The most meaningful photos come from connection, not perfection.

During the Session

What happens if my child has a meltdown during the session?

We pause. We give space. There is no pressure to push through. Meltdowns are communication, not misbehavior. Some of the most genuine moments happen after your child feels safe again.

Are sessions flexible if my child needs breaks?

Yes, always. Breaks, movement, comfort items, and flexibility are all part of the experience. Sessions are designed to adapt to your child—not the other way around.

How long are your photography sessions?

Most sessions last between 45–90 minutes depending on the type. I allow flexibility so we’re not rushing, especially for families who need a slower, more supportive pace.

Pricing + Booking

How does pricing work?

You reserve your session with a session fee, which covers planning, the session itself, editing, and your proofing gallery. After your session, you choose the image collection that fits you best.

If you already know you want your images, you can choose a collection at booking and receive a discount. Most families invest between $500 and $1,400 depending on what they choose.

When do we choose our images?

After your session, you’ll receive a proofing gallery where you can view your images and select your favorites or upgrade your collection.

How do I book a session?

You can either reach out through the contact form to talk through what would work best, or go directly to booking if you already know what you’re looking for.

After Your Session

When will we receive our photos?

Galleries are typically delivered within 2–3 weeks. Rush delivery may be available if needed.

Can I print my photos anywhere?

Yes, you receive a print release with your images. I also offer professional print options for higher-quality results if you want help creating something lasting for your home.

Do you work with neurodivergent children or autism?

Yes. I specialize in creating a calm, supportive photography experience for neurodivergent families in the St. Louis area. Sessions are designed to be flexible, patient, and adapted to your child’s needs.

Where are sessions held?
